Default XJR Questions

Just bought an 04 XJ8, but already thinking of upgrading next spring to an XJR...I know about the larger Brembo brakes, larger wheels and tires, and of course the supercharged motor...What are the other differences over a XJ8? I see you can add a pulley to increase the S/C PSI, remap the PCM, better CAI. What other items are available to increase power? Has anyone here dyno'd there cars either stock or modded? Thanks!

I have a X358 and don't know about X350s. For 2008 the suspension was tuned differently and there was a more secure feel to the steering on the highway. The steering wheel is thicker and a heated steering wheel is not available. Standard equipment included Nav, Adaptive Cruise Control, a better audio system, and some things I can't remember.

The seats are firmer and more bolstered on the XJR, too much so IMHO. On a long drive, say 5 to 8 hours, you will get an education.
You need to drive one before you get too far into power increase mods. The acceleration, say from 40 to OMG, is hair raising.

Here is my take from first hand experience. I owned an 05 XJ... loved it, the ride the mileage.. very Jaguar-ish. Earlier this year I bought my 06 XJR and while I love this one way more there are differences. First off the ride is harsher. I do have the optional 20 inch Sepangs with low profile tires which I have read on here is one of the biggest reason for the harsh ride. Also the mileage..... this is more my fault I think (gotta enjoy it) but also the wife drives the car most of the time in city traffic so were maxing out at about 17mpg. The 05 was more in the 23mpg range for that same drive.

Having the additional power at the push of the pedal though is something that I just love and compares highly fun factor wise to my 2000 XKR.

Hope this helped and again just my take on it.

I have the Super V8, also on the Sepangs, the ride is the standard suspension and even with the Sepangs is very good, maybe not quite as good as my last car riding on 18" wheels but definitely not harsh.

My beloved XJR got totaled, so I went looking for a replacement. Drove many XJ8s while searching, and loved the VDPs for their comfort, but lacked the punch of a blower. Ended up getting a superV8 so I could get the comfort of the VDP and the punch of the XJR.
