yellow running light replacement
Hello Everyone:
Working on my wife's 2005xj VP. Above the high beam bulb is a very small yellow light. I assume it is a running light. How do you change it without removing the bumper? I have large hands and can feel some adjustment lever when I try to remove the light but do not want to just pull it out. Might destroy it. Any help?
Sorry I always have several questions. Has anyone use other suspension companies such as Moog for their suspension? Trying to figure out where is the best place to buy suspension control arms and bushings. Any help?
Thanks

I think the bulb is white but the lens is yellow-may be different in the US
I have taken mine out because I did not like the yellow light.
The bulb is mounted in a length of tube about 1 cm dia.and if
you feel at the top of the housing for two wires and pull you
should be able to pull the tube and bulb out.
Replacing is a pain.
Do not drop it down the side-I had to cut into the 'box' to get it out again. lol

There are a number of threads on this here, but I can't find them at the moment.
There is a good thread on the other forum, which is very helpful, from post #8 onwards.

Once you see how it is done, you will be ok.

On my '04 I've not bothered replacing the running light bulbs, even when I've had the front bumper cover off (it's easier than you think, btw). The color temp difference between the W5W running light bulbs and the stock HIDs on my car make me twitch.
As for Moog, that's my usual aftermarket go-to for suspension bits. I usually cross-reference fit with the same vintage S-Type and Lincoln LS to take a stab at guessing whether it'll fit; as for sources, it's usually Rock for me.

Do you have the owners Manual? Bulbs in most cars you would not remove a bumper to replace a bulb. The manufacture makes it so that the owner can do it. All you have to do is go to the X350/X358 How to Do / DIY Repair Maint at the top of this forums section. Then go the 11. and download the Owner's manual for a 2005. Then go to Bulb Renew on page 194, and then got to page 197 for that bulb/

Quote from Handbook, seeing as I'm enjoying reading it:
Note: In most countries it is illegal to use a vehicle with a defective exterior bulb
and
In some countries it is a legal requirement to carry spare vehicle bulbs.
Really???
Occasionally my headlights flicker, and there are well-known potential fixes of the indicator stalk or ground points. Am I driving illegally? Who would know? (except I just blasted it over the internet)
Imagine changing a light bulb, on the side of the road, on a dark and stormy night...
(I have had the indicator stalk out and apart. No obvious wire damage, except springs sprung everywhere and I considered myself lucky to get it back together again. Price of a new one "concentrated the mind" as they say)

Both copies of the owner's manual that I have are WRONG and mention turning the bulb, which you can't do. The link I gave further up gives the correct method with photos.
