ZF6 Fitment VIN Range for 2004 XJ8 - X350 MY

Hi Guys,
I'm looking for some assistance on the following from one of the tech guys here, possibly Brutal... or anyone with knowledge in this area for that matter...
I need to replace my ZF6 trans (almost 100% certain it's an mechanical fault)
Now for 2004 MY I understand there is a VIN cut off as follows:
G00001 - G13493
Then G13494 on to G4XXXX
The last 6 of my VIN are G31389
Why would I not be able to fit a ZF6 unit from a G13493 VIN or lower? Is it a software issue, compatability issue? Fitment issue?
I only ask as I have a line on 2 different ZF6 trans units but both are from donor cars with VIN's ranging from G00001 - G13493 (my luck!)
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks - Anthony

I can only assume that it's related to the Mechatronic & TCM compatibility, since there are specific Mechatronics listed as spare parts for the VIN ranges, with no supercession.
On the 4.2 N/A the mechatronic is listed as
To VIN (G13693)
From VIN (G13694) To VIN (G33565)
From VIN (G33566) To VIN (G49700)
From VIN (G49701)
From G49701 it's a standardised part for all engine options, before that it's split up.
You could also search for a donor transmission from an S-Type or XK8
S-Type 4.2 N/A
From VIN (M96313) to VIN (N22939)
XK8 4.2 N/A
From VIN (A31734) to VIN (A41725)
Those are the same complete transmission assemblies as the XJ8, reflashing the TCM is required, but I believe that would also be the case with an XJ8 donor transmission too.
Alternatively try calling ZF Services in Illinois and ask them for some advice, I know they offer a "factory rebuild" service in other countries, probably the US as well.
