ZF6HP26 Trans separator plate question
Hi all,
I will begin the process of rebuilding valve body on my ZF6HP26 trans in 2004 XJR next week. I have the solenoid valves, pan &filter, sealing sleeve
w/o-rings, and Mechatronic adapter seal. I also have 20 litres of fluid (gonna do my XKR next). I am trying to figure out which Zip kit to buy that comes with the 4 sleeves. It gives me an option for "053 separator plate (gen1)". I have been unsuccessful in finding when the switch was made from Gen 1 (053 plate) to gen 2 plate searching the interwebs.
I have not started work but will be next week if temp in Michigan is warm enough.
Anyone have a way to determine prior to teardown??
Thanks!!

I had the same issue on my BMW. I found a local transmission distributor and they assured me they had both Zip kits and Plates in stock. I dropped the pan and valve body and confirmed the needed Plate number. Then I went and picked it up.
If you don't have a local place you can order both, but figure out return rules and costs.
One should be able to look at the ZF/Jag transmission plate and call ZF with the part numbers and they will tell you what should be in there based on the plate numbers. I had no luck with this route, but maybe your area has people that answer the phone.
