1995 VDP Just shut down? "Timing Belt?"
Hello All,
Started my XJ6 "VDP" this moring and it suddenly shut down. Slight smell of something burning??? Tried to restart but the engine would not fire and the starter sounded kind of whinny? Could I have broken a timing belt? Car has 140K and belt has not been serviced. How would I check the belt? Whats the best way to check for fuel and spark?
Thanks!
ED.

Welcome, sorry to hear about your troubles with your ride . Your X300 don't have timing belt , it has equipped with timing chain .
I hope your timing chain is solid otherwise you would have some big repair bill .
For the fuel relay , turn on the ignition to II without starting the engine and watch out if you can hear of some noise . If you hear some noise then your fuel relay is ok .
That's all for now on my course I believe one of our tech guys to assist you as well
