Default 1995 x300 cooling fans stay on

Hello folks. I hate to beat this to death but I recently did an evac/recharge of the a/c system because it wasn't blowing cold. I filled the system and now it blows cold. Only problem I have now is that the right side fan stays on all the time. as soon as the battery is connected. I notice if I remove the connector to the trinary switch the fan turns off............is this a sign of overcharged a/c system? Or is this the white relay everyone talks about under the front fender on driver side??

Thanks in advance
Dan

Dan,
when you say the fan is on "as soon as the battery is connected" do you mean when the ignition switch is turned to on, or are you actually talking about physically disconnecting the battery? The reason I ask is that the fan is supposed to run when AC is on and ignition is on. Try turning AC off and seeing if it runs. Also, run the simple diagnostic check on your HVAC system. I cant immediately recollect the combination of buttons to push on the heater controls, but takes about 30 seconds to do.

Yes, as soon as the battery is connected the fan comes on and stays on. Very odd. I know it is supposed to come on when a/c is on but this one is on as soon as the battery is connected. I will check for any codes in the a/c module and get back to you.

Faulty fan relay. Common fault due to soldering problems. I have repaired loads of them.

LNA6702AB

buy new, or resolder your existing part.

it is behind the bumper, under the left side headlamp.

The white colored X300 fan control module or relay is different then the black colored module for the X308 ( 98 and above V8 version )

They are not interchangeable

The module can be mounted upside down and water can get inside , you can remove it and hear water in it if shaken , ask me how I know

The wires must be pointed down

There is a TSB to jumper the AC 2 wire freon low pressure switch to keep one fan running at all times

This information is for the fan operation observation after it has been modified so we are on the same page

14-06 (jagrepair.com)

This low pressure switch is not a under pressure switch but turns on one fan at a lower freon pressure when the A/C is operated and both fans at a higher freon pressure by a sperate 4 wire pressure switch located behind the 2 wire low pressure switch

The A/C control module does not directly control the radiator fans other then the clutch engagement to bring up freon pressure

So you have 2 modes of fan control one being the A/C load demand by the freon pressure and the other being coolant fluid temperature by a separate and 3rd switch

To know if your car is modified you may find the 2 wire connector jumped , the low pressure switch may be removed or simply the connector cut off and the 2 wires spliced

Later we will go through a one or both fan operation check to ensure your engine coolant is protecting your engine
