1995 XJ6 3.2L Ignition switch
I'm posting this thread on behalf of the owner friend of a 1995 XJ6 3.2L.
After replacing a busted ignition switch, the car would still not respond to start cranking.
Question: Would any switch/module require to be re-conditioned or re-programmed after such an ignition switch swap?
TIA Jaguar crowd

We do not have a chip in the key in the United States so speaking as one who des not have one
The key barrel is separate from the actual switch ( attached to the back end ) and that would negate the need to have a different key
The switch functions as providing a ground path to car frame on pin 5 ( on the car side half of the connector ) and this ground can be bad or have been disturbed
The picture is the switch side half of the connector
The car side half of the connector in the picture can be lifted up out from the dash mount
The ignition switch des provide a ground ( through pin 5 ) to close the right engine fuse box relay ( called the ignition positive relay )
This relay must be closed to power the engine ECU to enable the starter circuit first and then following after that regulate the engine
This happens before you rotate the key fully to the start position with pin X to pin 5
The ignition switch can be confusing as more then one single pin to 5 path ( or close ) happens at the same time with each key rotation position
