1996 XJR how fragile?

Still patiently looking for an XJR and may have a line on a 96, with pretty low miles (I think I heard 60 or 70k).
I'm expecting to have to do various preventive maintenance things, and that is fine. But a question gnaws at me: how fragile are these cars? Are they suitable for daily highway use, or are they simply for drives to the country club on sunny summer days? If purchased this would be my primary vehicle.
Thanks for any thoughts you all may have.

I have a 1996 XJ6, and it has been virtually bulletproof. And prior to premium hitting $4 a gallon I was a very aggressive driver, slicing through traffic and enjoying twisty backroads. One of the guys in my local club has an XJR, and he drives the same way, but without the benefit of the decades of racing experience that I have. He is however, a banker by trade, so he has not slowed down due to the price of gas.
Remember, these were the cars that put Jaguar over Mercedes (and close to Toyota)on the J.D. Power surveys. The X300 series can take whatever you can dish out.

hey guys havent posted in this forum in a while! Thought Id chime in since Im in the middle of selling my 93 XJ40 to get a 95-97 XJR6
Ive wanted one of those for a long time and theres one on ebay right now thats EXACTLY what I want....black/tan, low miles, Jag enthusiast. Its so damn hard to find the black/tan...I LOVE it...and this one doesnt have that lame chrome grille with the mesh like a lot of 96/97 ones Ive seen with. No offense to anyone who likes the chrome XJR grill look but I like how all the paint matches like the 98 and ups. The supercharger on this 1995 has already been replaced before 67K miles. Is that normal?? Ive already done a ton of research on this car since I considered purchasing one last summer but just couldnt let my XJ40 go!

that black one is GORGEOUS isnt it!?!?! You have no idea whatd Id give for that...I first came across it on Charlotte,NC craigslist even though Im in Buffalo NY. He was asking 12900 for it!!! Thats craziness. I completely understand the guy trying to get as much money back as possible with the amount of work he's done and how excellent of shape its in but I have well over 6K into my XJ40 ontop of what I paid for it 4 years ago and I know Im not going to see half that money back if it sells. Just got to enjoy the memories and the amount of fun time that ya had with them and let them go. For 13K I could go buy a 2000 or 2001 XJR. I was just shocked to see it a couple hours later on ebay that same night I first saw on craigslist. Im sure that guys reserve price is at least 9000.
Ive bought multiple cars (mostly Jeep Cherokees) over the last couple years offline without ever driving them since they were hours or states away. Even my Bimmer I just bought is almost 20 yrs old with 160K miles on it, never saw one or drove one ever in my life in person and I did months of research and put the faith into the guy I bought it from. I wouldnt be too worried about it if you decided to eventually bid on it!
