1997 Vanden Plas Power Washers
Hi does anyone know how to remove the chrome "blades" on top of the front bumper on a 1997 Vanden Plas?
I need to replace one of the headlamp pwer washer jet assemblies that mounts on the top center front bumper blade.
Hoping there is a simple way w/o having to pull off the whole bumber cover
Thanks!!

With the x300 the bumper does indeed need to come off to remove the chrome strips and I suspect it's the same with the VDP. The mounting bolts are located beneath the lower part of the bumper on either side and are easy to get at, but the mountings themselves often corrode allowing the bolts to simply "turn" without actually coming out. This can be a real pain and if you do get the bumper off easily, cover the offending mounts in grease or similar before reassembly to help prolong their life. There are various wires to disconnect also, indicators etc. so be aware of that before pulling the bumper forward. An extra pair of hands wouldn't go astray. The chrome strips are held in place with small brackets/clips at the front which hold the strip down in place and small screws at the rear. These screws may well also be stripped/corroded so replacing them with something a little beefier is no harm. Dont know about the washer jets themselves, but would have thought that they could be accessed without removing the bumper. Best of luck with it.

Thanks;
I should have been more specific.... I hope to be able to remove the front bumper outer cover ONLY... not the whole bumper assembly (should be no need to do that).
The bumper cover should come off separate from the main assembly behind it, (just as it was likely installed after the main bar & energy absorbers on the assembly line) so I can then access the cover top chrome trim fasteners, right?
Any help appreciated

Fixed!
Problem solved! The power washer nozzles simply snap on from the top, without having to remove the bumper cover or chrome blade. The hose it connects to has a quick-connect fitting, much like a new kitchen sink faucet vegetable sprayer snap connection. Took 5 minutes to do the job and the car looks great again!
