1997 XJ6 VDP sunroof not closing with key in door
Hi, I have a 1997 XJ6 VDP that I just bought. It has a few little things that need fixed, But the one I can't figure out is the sunroof if I try to close the windows and sunroof with the key in the drivers side door only the windows close, and if I'm in the car and use the switch for the sunroof it will open and tilt fine but when I try and close it with the switch it doesn't stop when it's closed it keeps going and tilts up.
Any help would be great Thank You

Hi, welcome to the forum
I believe it has something to do with the sensors not knowing where to stop.
I am not sure, and maybe someone else could shed some light on this but I believe you can reset it by pushing one of the open/close button for a long period of time. Have you done a good search in the database yet?
I have never test the reset process myself, but im curious if it will work tho!
btw, when you have some spare time please introduce yourself at the new member area ;-)

When you remove the inner panel from the sunroof, you can get a good look inside it and see what is broken. Just pull the inner panel up so it gets free and pull it backwards and remove it thru the sunroof.
Be really secure on cleaning the tracks, they need to be absolutely free of whatever junk/sand/broken plastic you can find.

Hm, I yes of course whatever suites you. But to remove the metal panel you need to remove the inner panel first. And that being very easy, that's why I suggest to do that first.
I have never removed the complete panel before, but I don't think you need to re-align it afterwards. Just be very gentle with it.

So I got it closed and pulled the power wires from the motor. I think it might be best to buy a used assembly at this point and put it in the car or make one good assembly out of mine and a used one.
