1997 XJR fuel smell
Hey guys, my 1997 XJR gets a intermittent fuel smell. Not sure when to say it does it, and it doesn't bother me much, but my wife says it is sickening its so strong at times. I've looked at what I can see in the trunk, but all appears very good at the fuel filler neck, top of tank. Suggestions appreciated.

This happened with my moms XJ6L after filling up the tank. I removed the carbon canistor which sits underneath the car where the rear driverside passenger would side. All I did was open up the canister and move the pellets around and it's been about 2 years but the smell has no come back...

I haven't heard of it being a common item needing to be serviced...
I was going to replace the pellets when I opened it up but realized I had the wrong ones as replacements so I just shuffled them around and put it back and the smell never came back.
I'm thinking maybe they settled to where there was a blockage in the vapor and it was building up causing it the go into the cabin... but that's just a guess. Since it never came back, I didn't think too much of it after.
