Default 25th Birthday Thread

My car has a special birthday today. It is 25 years old.

It’s a Daimler Six, purchased in 1994 by an executive at an Aberdeen shipping company for an “on the road” price of £51K. In today’s money that’s just over £100K. Wow.
I’ve owned it for over 12 years now and I still enjoy driving it. It had a full rebuild about 7 years ago. You can see some details of that here

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...roject-130285/

It’s had a few more updates since that rebuild, for example a full set of replacement seats from a later Daimler Super V8. It’s just had a full rear brake rebuild with Discs and Pads and new Handbrake cables. I have to admit that it has become a bit of a garage queen (not intentionally) and has only covered about 7,000 miles since the rebuild. Most of my daily driving requires something with load carrying capability.

I just wanted to share it’s special day with like minded people.

Maybe as your car reaches the milestone (or if it already has) you can add to the thread with a photo and a little bit of background, and we can keep this thread going for a few years until all members cars are 25 years old.

My XJ12 recently coming out of the workshop after rear wheel arch rust repair work etc. It’s a British car built in Nov1994 and first registered in 1995. I am the third owner and the fellow I bought it from purchased it from the original owner when he was working in the UK many years ago. It has over 220,000 miles on it and looks great and is still going strong.

Default Happy 25th Birthday and "Historic Vehicle" status

They told me they were going to make room inside the gallery for my car...

I politely declined, as I explained that the streets around here still needed some beautifying...

Happy 25th Birthday to my lovely XJ12!

Only the 345th of the X300 series manufactured, by VIN. Perhaps within the first few dozen X305s built. Shipped all the way to San Francisco, California. The original owner must have been thrilled to get this brand new beauty at the earliest possible time. The title states the MSRP at $77,000 USD. I am thankful that this original owner (not a lease) took ALL of the depreciation over the 14 years of his ownership. And obviously always enjoyed the car, and took good care of it for me.

Just over 104,000 miles now, running great as my daily driver. Just put in a new Group 93 battery (a big beast) from Napa. The old one lasted six years. Now I have a decision to make... the car is eligible for the Arizona Historic Vehicle license plate:

I like the red lettering over the copper color. I think the car is worthy of it, especially as an XJ12. I could be the first in Arizona with a historic plated X300...

Default Whos birthday is it today?

We have had three birthday cars shown, of the 15,000 or so X300 series cars that were already manufactured by this time in 1995. Let's see more of the lucky ones that have made it to 2020, and what you are doing that is special for your car's anniversary of first ownership or registration. It is good to remember why we love our cars, despite all of the threads about things we don't love!

There will be special recognition for the first poster that can claim original ownership from day one. Are there any here?

I've done quite a lot of charitable work for subsequent Jaguar owners over the years.

Or 67 years late for its 25th birthday! My X305 will be 92 in November of 2087.

That sure is a neat car. A rolling piece of history. Looks great with the tonneau all buttoned up.

Were you claiming original ownership of the Alvis???

No!
sorry I crashed the thread - it didn't come up properly when I posted that from a phone.
I just threw it in there because it is an older Coventry cousin..
Not first owner, but my father's since 1960...

Not qualified for a 25th anniversary (yet) but a milestone of sorts - off to collect my first X300 tomorrow. So as its new foster parent, it will be a first birthday!

Happy birthday my XJR! First registered on 21st March 1995.

I’d hoped to have this back on the road by now, but unfortunately, it’s been off the road for nearly 2 years now.

I had the front subframe out last winter & ended up doing quite a lot more welding repairs than I had anticipated, but then I needed the car out the way while I did other things.

This winter, I pulled it back in my workshop & have done lots more welding at the back. It’s again taken longer than expected. Currently the rear subframe is out, but re-assembly is happening and I spoke to the painter today about painting, funnily enough.

Anyway, it’s a mere whipper snapper at 25 years old, I have a 50 year old too, not a Jag though

Not there yet but in a couple years I'm gonna have a bunch of birthday cars.
So is the Daimler and the XJ rim the same with a different center cap?
