95 xj6 tilt/telescope problems
I have a 95 xj6 and the telescope feature is not working. The tilt does work. The dealership told me I would have to replace the entire steering column at the tune of 2400.00 bucks. Jag grave yard said I would only need to replace the tilt/tele. motor. I have heard that this is a common problem with this model. Can anyone advise on what I should do to fix the telescope problem? Thanks!

Wonder where that car is now.
This forum is sure slow. Our guys at w126 Mercedes forum keep it very much alive.
Are things this slow here because the cars are reliable ? Low number of owners? Low production numbers ?
either way. Lots of good info which I am thankful for.

Wow! Just amazing what you can find in 'Search'!
New to me '97 VDP and my tilt is working fine but the telescopic is not. However, I can hear the motor run and was thinking it was probably just a stripped cheap plastic gear! OK, so it's a broken cable drive!
Just found one on eBay for $39 new, shipped. Doesn't look too hard to replace.
