'95 XJR lacking power
I've got a '95 XJR that has spent most of it's life in and around Indiana, and I rescued her and brought her to South Carolina. About 130k miles, stock as hell, and with two o2 sensor check engine codes reading. For some reason or another it just doesn't drive like it should. The supercharged version of the AJ16 should be blindingly fast, and while the drive back from Indiana was a blast, I got home and drove my '96 XJ6 around and found it to be quicker, more responsive, and able to hold high speeds generally better than the XJR. Am I just weird and just don't know enough about supercharged motors or is there something else that I'm overlooking? I changed the plugs in an autozone parking lot while I was up in indiana before I started home, the coils are all good, the two o2 sensor codes are the only codes reading, bank two sensor one and two I believe, not sure though. It did have a clogged exhaust problem with the left side, hardly any pressure coming out of the left pipe; I worked my way back to devise which was the clogged part, and discovered it to be the primary muffler on the drivers side, so she's running no primary or secondary mufflers on the driver's side, giving it a nice jungle cat growly sound I think. I left the pipes on the passenger side alone, since it was putting out plenty of exhaust. Even after all this, it still doesn't drive like it should, or how I think it should. It's also got fresh tranny fluid and filter, and I always keep fresh oil in it.
This one's got me stumped.

RE: '95 XJR lacking power
A couple quick thoughts-
Fuel filter
Secondary fuel pump inoperative
Supercharger bypassactuatorinop, preventing boost from developing
The "R" has about 80 more horsepower than the normally aspirated version-you should feel quite a difference between the two.
Others will chime in
Cheers
