Default 95 xjr6 iat sensor location

Normally aspirated iat sensor is located on the intake elbow, but as far for the xjr I just cant find it. where is its location or how is iat measured. Im only concerned because I am going to place a larger lower pulley and spin my sc 15% od, would like to monitor temps correctly. I can see the temps on the scanner but where is the sensor?

That's something I meant to ask a few months back but forgotted. :-)

As often as I've had the entire air inlet system apart you'd think I remember...but I don't. Hopefully someone will come along a let us know.

Cheers

does anyone know where the iat temp sensor is located in the xjr and at what temp does the ecu start to pull timing? I have decreased iat temps by porting the sc, bypassing coolant hose to throttle body, johnson ic pump, and updated sc rotor plate, with LARGE vent port, put out by magnum powers. I will put ic fan if needed. Thanks for your input.

Try asking the author of this thread https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...emapped-66907/ he seems to be extremely knowledgeable

Hi Jeremiah
I’m reviving your old thread
Do you still have your XJR, and did porting/polishing your supercharger make an objective difference to your IATs/car’s performance?
I have assumed the IAT sensor is after the intercooler, but I don’t actually know.
I am getting IATs about 15-25’C above ambient (summer, temps 22-26’C) driving normally, coming up to 25-30’C above ambient after some full throttle blasts, then coming down to 17-20’C above ambient after about 2 miles of steady light throttle. If these would drop significantly with port/polish, I’d do that, plus try the Stiegermeier ‘Venom’ water-cooled drive snout, although that is getting expensive..

It's on the underside of the intake manifold/intercooler. Almost right above the throttle body assembly. You won't see it from above the engine.

See page 55

With the supercharger heating up the air and the intercooler cooling it back down a more acurate place to take the true IAT temp is after the intercooler

Any other place the engineers would have to assume a biased IAT sensor value that being based on standard factory supercharger parts

Changing the pulley diameter and intercooler water pump flow performance changes these initial assumptions as it relates to the location of the IAT sensor in the flowpath

The IAT sensor calibration is on page 86 if you use a meter and not a ELM - 327 but in practice the ECU must still receive the output signal which is the result of a 5.0 volt DC input that is modified and seen as a lower voltage

I don't have the supercharged engine so this is the opinion of a armchair engineer that was not in the room .
