96 key remote switching question?????????
I have a 96 xj6 the key remote is broken. To replace it the cost is about $125, this is the price for 95-96 xj6's. From 97 up the price is much cheaper about $40.00 and sometimes you can go on ebay and craigslist and pick-up 97 and up remotes for $25. THE QUESTION: Could I replace the remote (door) system receiver that receives the signal from the remote that unlocks the doors? If this could be done where in the 96 xj6 body is the remote signal receiver? If this could be done I could purchase two (2) for the price of one.

if the frequency of the transmitters are the same you don't need to change anything, just program it to your chassis.
i.e. frequency of your old transmitter, matches the frequency of the new one. open the case of your old remote and it should be written in there somewhere.
I'm still a little ignorant as far as the security systems but I know there are others more educated than I in this area.
