96 XJR security/starting issue.
Hi everyone.
I'm working on a 96 XJR. I'm helping a friend get this in shape.
The main issue that we're working thru is a no start issue. It has a brand new battery FYI.
The car started and ran fine until on day my friends nephew left the door open and it totally drained the battery. After recharging the battery it would crank but not start. He had a mechanic come out and work on it and the guy bypassed something in the steering column with a relay and it starts now. However the by product of this workaround is that if you don't drive it everyday it drains the battery.
Is there a security system or procedure that needs to be performed after totally draining the battery? Could it be a built in kill system?
I'm sure you are all way more familiar with this than I am. I know cars well, but I am not familiar with the Jaguar systems.
Thanks in advance!
Gordon
