My recently acquired Canadian 97 XJ6 VDP has front daytime running lights, which is normal .....however, the tail lights also illuminate at the same time ....which is not normal on any other vehicle here in the Great White North.
Is this yet another bizarre Jaguar option, which I doubt, or do I have to start poring over the lighting schematics?

 

When Jaguar implemented DRL's for Canada, they basically run on low beam, except the dash lights. So all the side marker and tail lights are on, as well as the low beams. It's been that way since the Series 3 V12 cars 1990 onward.

 

So my doubt was misplaced; should have known that Jaguar would take the easy way out ...many thanks for your information, at least it's not a problem lurking in one of the myriad modules ....but I know it's going to irritate me, all that wasted juice and reduced lifespan on the bulbs ...
I suppose I'll now be plotting to bypass this bizarre arrangement .....carefully!
Just as a matter of interest, do you know when this arrangement was brought into line with everyone else?

 

As far as I know, Jaguars of today still do it the same way. My 2007 X Type runs all the exterior lights.

 

My XK8 is the same. All outside lights on all the time. I noticed it but it didn't bother me enough to change it.

 

I'd still like to find a used Canadian X300 BPM so I can try to enable DRLs on my US spec X300.
