97 xk8 rims on x300

They should fit fine, as long as you're careful with overall diameter of the tyres. Be aware that the X300 front end is quite different to the X308 and was really designed around the 390mm and 15-16inch wheels. I find that anything much wider than 235mm (such as the standard XJR setup!) tends to flummox the directional stability of the steering, especially on rough surfaces. I went from 255/45/17 to 225/60/16 on XJ8 wheels for my XJR.
The other thing to know is that the front hub of the X300 won't quite clear the hubcap on many of the post '97 wheels. I simply snapped the plastic clips off the hubcap and used an extra thick layer of silicone to hold it on. Or you could take a grinder to the hub...
For what it's worth, I think they'd look great on a sedan - similar to the XJS's GKN "Starfish" alloys on an XJ Series III.

Mine 1995 VDP look great with werry same rims which are on above XK8, 17", with Pirelly 245/50/17, there is just slight skrach of tyre on plastic inliner when I backup a car in sharp turn. Car fill's more the road in all sanses, not to mention that stability is perfect, car literary stick to the road.
I'm sorry that I'm not able to back up withmine image.
