Air bag light after coil failure

Air bag light after coil failure
Hi gang :-)
Had another coil failure over the weekend. Usual thing: "tokyo at night" craziness from the warning lamps and gauge needles dancing all over.
Installed my last spare coil and all's well......except....
The Air Bag warning light ( and message display) remains steadfastedly on.
A hard reset did nothing to extinguish the warnings.
Any thoughts on what I can do here, bearing in mind that I have only a rudimentary scan tool that reads only engined relate codes/information?
I have to wonder if something in the air bag circuits actually got hurt during this last coil failure episode. I mean, all that cluster craziness during a coil failure suggests *some sort* of back-feed issue, doesn't it? Is it possible that something fried?
Thoughts?
Many thanks,
Doug

By the above I assume you mean remove battery cables hard reset. You've also cleared the code with your reader, right?
I'm no airbag expert but I have worked around the innards of one while replacing cruise control controls that were integral to the steering wheel in my wife's vehicle. Open up the steering wheel and the bag falls like a brick in your lap. with the battery cables off, you could remove the connectors and inspect for burn damage, etc. Reconnect. check air bag fuse. I don't know, maybe worth a try.
In the meantime, with the battery cables on and your airbag warning light remaining on, you might consider wearing a helmet .
Seriously, I hope you get it worked out.

Right !

.
.
Well, that's the problem. The scan tool I have doesn't read/interpret/display/clear codes related to air bags, ABS brakes, etc.
Cheers and thanks

Just a follow-up.
A $40 used air bag control module (LNA2278AA) fixed the problem.
I made as many checks as I could (which means very few) with no specialized equipment and decided the module was the most likely thing to have been injured by feedback or electric noise.
It was a guess on my part.....something I'm not fond of doing....but in this case I got lucky :-)
Cheers

Airbag warning light.
Hi, I have a 1994 four litre X300 thats suffered a broken clock spring causing me to loose the use of the horn and giving me a permanent air bag fail light. As new replacement units are no longer available I'm left searching the used parts market. Problem I'm having is determining the correct unit for my car as I've come across several part numbers. So far I have JLM21159 upgraded to LNC6470CA and then to LXF6470AA. Can I use any one of these or is my early model car only able to take JLM21159 - any body know?
I also have a Jaguar technical bulletin which reads; I guess I would also need one of these replacement cassette units?
When stocks of the steering cassette, Part No. LXF 6470AA, are exhausted, the
Part Number will be superseded to Part No. JLM 21159, Kit - Steering Cancellation Cassette. This kit consists of a replacement cassette unit, attached to a modified carrier.
I guess I would also need one of these replacement cassette units? All very confusing.
Any help/advice would be much appreciated.
Cheers, RogerB
