air con climate control 'ER' error display

Good day everyone.
I've read in the handbook that i should send the car in for a diagnostic check up when an error 'ER' display on my climate control came up.
However, i would like to ask if anyone has an 'error' display on their climate control before.
If so, what are the common faults?
Upon starting switching on the air con, it initially blows hot air out, then about 20sec later it operates as normal.
Could an error occur when the aircon gas is running low?
Many thanks in advance.
Jonno

Useally when thwe ac cabin air temp sensor is unplugged with the ignition on it sets er when first turned on, if theres not a permanent fault it will reset and not come on anymore when you switch to auto on the ac panel.
If there is a fualt it will stay on, i would check to make sure its connected and the fan working. Past that youde have to inerogate the ac ecu to see what its seeing as a fault

thanks mate for the tip.
where about can i find the tempt sensor to check if its unplug?
i took the car to get it re-gassed. It had very little gas left.
Was hoping that after re-gassing the 'er' display would disappear but unfortunately its still there.
But the good thing is that the air is very much cooler than before.
Just the usual buzzing and 'er' display every time the ignition is on.
I tried pressing AUTO button but 'er' still displays upon start up.
Fans are working fine.
I cant take it to a local jaguar dealer cos there aint none near where i am

• Switch off the ignition
Press and hold the AUTO and FRESH / RECIRC buttons simultaneously while switching the
ignition to position II.
All of the panel LEDs and all LCD segments will flash ON and OFF. Any function LED indicator
or LCD segment that does not flash suggests a fault condition within that area of the panel,
or with the LED or LCD.
• Press AUTO
The control panel display will flash and scroll through the list of flagged fault codes. A maximum
of five codes will be stored and displayed. If 0 is displayed, no fault codes are flagged.
• Press FACE to manually scroll through the fault codes
When a fault code is displayed, an accompanying beep will indicate if the fault is present.
If the code is not accompanied by a beep, the fault occurred previously.
NOTE: Faults that are present can not be cleared until the cause of the fault is repaired.
To clear fault codes, press HRW and FACE simultaneously. Wait 30 seconds for the A/CCM
to retest the system and reflag any current faults.
• Press PUSH OFF to return the system to normal operation (default panel settings)
See what code you come up with and post back and we'll see what it is.
Cheers,

The Denso Climate Diag.pdf really helped out. I could not clear a 11 code on my 98 XKR. I had thought that maybe it was different than the XJR. After reading the pdf it stated that the fault would return if the fault was still there. Well I had my Inst. Cluster out being repaired (Code P-1638) so the error was still there because I had the temp. sensor unplugged. Plugged it in and all codes cleared in the A/C. Thanks
