I have a very intermittent anti lock warning light on the dash. I do not believe there is anything wrong with the system, I have heard this is quite common, it is very annoying!
Can I take out the fuse and which one would it be, there appears to be 3 different fuses in the rear compartment.
Hope someone can help
W
a fuse would not disable a warning light.
that would disable the whole system and likely trigger the warning light to come on.
the way to disable a warning light would be to remove the globe.
BUT
and I stress
I would never remove the warning light for a critical system.
what if there is a big problem? you would not get the warning indicator.
any problem that is triggering a warning light to come on should be addressed sooner rather than later.
any problem with a critical system should be addressed sooner rather than later.
I am unsure as to what your issue might be but i strongly recommend resolving whatever the issue is.
and i strongly advise against disabling any kind of warning light.
just a quick search has suggested it may be dirty crud covered wheel sensors.
so clean those.
other common issue is corroded/damaged connectors.
follow the wiring (check the diagram) find the connectors and undo and clean them with contact cleaner.
Without a code reader there are some things you can check and the first thing to do is to remove the wheel speed sensors and clean the face of the sensors of grime that interferes with the sensor
This would be different than the connector ,10 mm socket and you might get them without jacking.
Don't try to pry them out too hard as they break being plastic.
In the anti shid system 1/2 of the 2 switch brake switch assembly is used with the other 1/2 dedicated to the brake light
This will be socket 20 as it is provided a ground through the brake switch assembly.
The wheel speed sensor can be checked for the same resistance compared to each other in the colored pairs in the pic , around 1300 ohms
by hand spinning the wheels in the forward direction of car travel each sensor will generate about 1.0 volts AC
Do not mix replacement positions the sensors as a left does not work for a right
The correct sensor part # has to do with your VIN # as there was a change during production years
Once you resolve the issue the light will not go out until you reach 12.5 MPH
The light will not appear until it sees a fault 3 times
Is it really the yellow ABS light, or the red Brake light? When was the last time you replaced your brake pads? It could be your fluid bottoming out?
I would not recommend disabling the ABS light. This is not a common issue on these cars, so it is certainly trying to tell you something. We're talking about your brakes! Let's not be so cavalier about this warning.
One of your wheel sensors could be losing communication. You would need a dedicated code reader to figure out which one it could be. Cleaning it may work, or it may just work temporarily, meaning replacement is inevitable.
In any case, your best bet is to get a device that can read it. You can take it to a shop and pay someone $150 to pull that code, or you can buy yourself an iCarsoft i930 or something like that which has been confirmed on these boards to read your ABS codes. There was recently one for sale in the Classifieds Forum here. (no affiliation with the seller, or the device)
Without DTCs from the module, we are all guessing. (let the guessing begin)
I guess C1095 too. Especially when intermittent. The better code readers can confirm. My Foxwell is not better but after a struggle, it confirmed. Using a Ford model input is a good idea, X.
If so, resoldering the 2 main power wire pads in the module will correct it. Easy.
