Default Anybody know how to change the ignition key tumbler?

I have a 1997 XJ6 and need to remove the old key tumbler and replace with my new ignition / key set? Any ideas?

I posted on this quite some time ago. I don't remember the details, except that to remove the actual barrel, you leave the key inserted and depress a small lug on the underside of the barrel and pull on the key.

A search of my posts should uncover it and the accompanying pics. Be aware also of the black rubber ring at the front end of the barrel, which reads the signal from the key chip. Unless I'm mistaken, any (xj6) key will fit, but won't be recognised and will have to be programmed by a main dealer.

The US models do NOT have a KTM or immobilizer for the X300.
That feature was introduced for the X308 (1998MY).

Yes, apologies for any confusion. I didn't notice the U.S. address. Doh!
