AutoLock Cancel?

Anyone know how to cancel the autolock that locks the doors when you engage the transmission?
On my Fords, it's a series of key on/off and lock/unlock button presses. Possible on the 95 VDP? Or is that a job requiring the WDS or other interactive diagnostic tool?

My apologies if I'm plowing furrowed ground but I conducted a search with due diligence and came up empty. If it is a dealer change, then it may be done through WDS. You may have shown up on the day their Guy trained on it was off. I half-remember Motorcarman telling me it was part of the new car delivery setup.
Like to get it changed though, price of actuators being what it is, I really don't need 3 or 4 lock/unlock cycles just to get to work!

You found the word I was missing, old age i suppose.
"New car delivery set up" was what I found. Trouble is that the dealer has no one in the service area that was working there in 1995, and I got that from the Spare Parts Manager, but he had no idea of how to alter it after delivery. The trouble we have down here is that if your Jag is more than 5 years out of warranty, the dealer is reluctant to work on it, and having 1 dealer only, they call the shots.
When I next go interstate where there are bigger dealers, and more of them (competition is good) I will sort it via the diagnostic port I presume.

Went to see Motorcarman today and he disabled it for me using his WDS.
It is in "Dealer Options" maybe "security" after that and eventually you get to "Driveaway locking enable" and the choices are "Enable" and "Disable"
Bob switched mine from "enabled" to "disabled" and voila`! No clicking of the locks when I selected "R" to back out of his shop!
If you have chassis codes or something that you need to pay the dealer a diagnostic charge for, no reason for him to shy from going to dealer options while he's hooked up. Your's will be far less cluttered and confusing there than the newer models. Only a handful of things that can be altered in the x300's.

Yeah, I'd been doing that but once to get out of the shop, again after stopping and dismounting to close the shop door...and I was forever forgetting to hold the door open, then the same cycle in reverse...locks when leaving work, after getting out to open shop door, etc. ect...
It'll still get locked/unlocked AT LEAST once/day at work, more on days when I have to stop for groceries on the way home...that's more than enough for actuators costing 3-figure$

Yep, i am the same, if I want it locked I will do it not some ECU thingy. I HATE locked doors when driving, and YES, I know its a safety issue (yours not the cars) against car jacking, or whatever its called.
Having been caught in a roll over years ago (passenger) and having autolocked doors, the rescue guys took too long to get us out, their words NOT mine, and I dont disagree. Coz I was OK, but no way the door/s would open, bloody scary, believe me, especially when you get a whif of petrol mixed in with the terror.

Reading this thread, I had to chuckle just a bit. It's funny how certain things, but not others, bother us.
The auto-lock feature doesn't irritate me in the least. However, the automatic easy-exit feature...where the seat slides back and the wheel tilts up...makes me just crazy! Fortunately, Jaguar was thoughtful enough with *that* feature to include a defeat switch.
Is anyone besides me irritated by so many buttons concentrated in the center control panel? Not driver freindly at all.
Cheers

lol. Good thing we all like (and dislike) different things, or I'd have to check license plates to find the right black VDP in the mall or stadium parking lots!
You hit the nail, though on identifying the key feature. "Auto entry/exit" can be configured by the user. In my opinion, I ought not have to visit the dealer (and pay a fee) just to configure how and/or whether a convenience feature works!
I suppose Grant's point is spot-on that it is prevention against car-jacking, but my 50 mile commute is 45 mi. freeway and 5 mi. of widely spaced stoplights on a 6-lane blvd. through a reasonably nice area. Concealed-carry law here in TX keeps that sort of activity to a minimum (driver just MIGHT be packin' and running up to his car intending to take it over may not end quite so well for the perp) and I don't know of any occurrences of someone being jacked at 70 mph. Still, sometimes (not necessarily intentionally) I venture into suspect areas but I suppose I could lock with the button on those rare occasions. My heartburn with it is more from the actuator reliability standpoint, notwithstanding Grant's valid concerns with being locked in during and accident.
My only complaint with the buttons on the central control panel is when they don't all work! I actually like having nothing on the steering wheel but a growler and a horn!
