Default Better Spark Plugs ?

I put the proper Champion spark plugs in the old gal about 4,000 miles ago. I noticed a little rough idle over the past weeks so I pulled the plugs. All six of them were blown out i.e. pushing gasses out of the nut surface, turning the porcelin brown. I'd like to try another brand but I have noticed in another post a warning to avoid NGK. Is there a manufacturer I could use with good result other than Champion ? Bosch, perhaps ? All suggestions and experiences are welcome.
