Boot will not open

Can you open the drivers door? If so open the bonnet and find the positive post on either side at the fuse boxes. Apply power to one of the posts with a jumper and use the other cable to ground. Then you can open the boot with the switch on the dash.
If you can't open the doors, do a search and you will find instructions on using a hole by the license plate.

It's fairly easy to get a key, you have a "tibbe" key. See this on how to decode your key: How to read a Tibbe key - XJ40
From there, you can order one off ebay based on the code you can read off the valet key. I believe the difference between the valet key and the master key is the tip, see this photo: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...wo-keys-99769/ Each has the 8 cuts, but the green headed valet key has a different tip configuration.
North American cars did not have a chip in the key, not sure about UK market cars. I think they do have a chip that needs to be programmed to be used as an ignition key. Should work the doors unprogrammed though.
