A/C backlight and radio antenna questions
Okay, two little q's:
The backlight on the A/C temperature screen went out, how do I replace it? Can I?
My radio antenna recently stopped going up and down. I think it's just the antenna by the sounds of it when it was breaking (sounded like the plastic bit inside broke), but I don't hear the motor. Where's the best place to buy a replacement?

If you remove the radio/climate control/clock stack you'll see that the climate control head has a plastic cover on the back. Remove the cover and you'll see the replaceable twist-lock bulbs.
Replacement bulbs are tricky. I bought umpteen different ones on-line for $1 each but none matched the color/instensity of true Jaguar bulbs....which are "stupid expensive" at $6-$7 each.
The antenna's nylon drive cable probably broke. I got a replacement on Ebay as I recall...less than $20 I think. It comeas as a mast-cable assembly. Sometimes the new cable can simply be fed into the motor, letting the take-up wheel pull the new cable in.
In my case there were broken bits inside...so I had to open up the motor. No big deal.
Cheers

Thanks loads Doug. I knew you'd know what I'd need to do. I'll probably just go get the bulbs at the dealer. I recently moved, and the local dealer is right next to a mall I like and haven't gotten a chance to visit them. If I'm going to go through the PITA motions of removing the climate control, I'm only going to do it once.

This is the same antenna and supplier I used
URO Power Antenna Mast for Jaguar LNA4134AA | eBay
Looks like the price went up a bit....or perhaps I wasn't remembering correctly
Cheers

I recently bought and installed this one on ebay:
eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices
It claims to be stainless instead of aluminum, which it implies some others are (?).
$14.95 + $5 shipping.
It arrived quickly, and installed easily. Came with removal and installation instructions, although I also had some from the forum.
