I am curious where the evaporator is located ... I have circled two different places on your photo ... is the evaporator located where the blue circle is or where the green circle is?

red marks on photo - blower motors
green mark - hole in the firewall for heater core tubes
blue - hole for evaporator tubes
and yellow - where was evaporator and heater core box

Where did you end up getting the replacement expansion valve. I likely need on for my faulty A/C.

I not found new valve without evaporator and just remove internal parts from expansion valve (nut, spring, needle) put all back together and its works, when outside temp about 90 F I have 35-40 F inside, low pressure little higher then normal (about 55 psi), but its ok.

I just posted in an adjacent thread the problem of installing the dryer canister in backwards as mine was originally. There is definitely a right way and a wrong way to install it. The right way the screen holding the pellets can still clog up but will not get pushed out of the way and let the pellets escape into the system. The three inch segment in the tube holding the pellets must be at the exit end of the dryer tube.
