going down the road. 96 xj6. Car loses power and then dies in mid driving. This is what I have done so far. Changed plugs, air and FUEL filter, removed and cleaned both MAV and throttle body with prpoer cleaners. That helped only the idle. It feels like one of two things. It is losing fuel pressure and it runs OUT OF GAS or maybe a loose wire connection. It does NOT have vacuum leaks. Please help! My wife is about to pay 120 a hour for a jag mech to work on this thing. One more thing. Engine code P1775 is on. Tranny sensor makes a car die?

Possible EMS relay fault, RF corner of engine bay
Possible fuel pump fault
" " " relay fault (fusebox in boot)
" " " link lead fault (inside fuel tank)
If I was working on the car, I'd be road testing it with a fuel pressure gauge taped to the windscreen.
If the engine shuts right off, tach drops to zero, and will usually start right back up...suspect EMS relay fault.

2nd the fuel pressure test.. have had several times.. the fuel pressure drops due to the fuel pump relay pin in the ecm connector.. corroded.. remove the passenger kick panel.. then 2 ..8mm bolts.. the ecm comes out.. check the connector pins.. .. also fuel pumps fail as well.. or inner fuel line in the tank from pump starts to come off..

Also, post your symptoms in the XJ8 and XJR section for more assistance. The Gen Tech forum is for stuff that might go across all platforms, model years and models.
