Changing door switch bezels/finishers to XJR birdseye maple
I replaced the two Nimbus Grey (Code: LFJ, LF) plastic rear door window switchpack bezel/surrounds/finishers today in my 1997 XJR with the 1995 XJR & XJ Sport dark birdseye maple finishers as I always thought that was a classier look.
As most know, for some reason Jaguar only used the dark (blackish gray/green) birdseye maple wood door switchpack finishers in 1995 for the X300 XJR (at least true for USA), then went to color matched plastic in the 1996 and 1997 XJR where the rest of the interior (also except for the overhead console) was birdseye maple trimmed. For the XJRs that had the standard burl walnut trim, the switch finishers continued to be wood.
The rear finishers are part 2 in the diagram below that show the rear door switch pack.
Interestingly the rear door birdseye maple finishers are still available:
Rear RH GNA2844AA
Rear LH GNA2845AA
I'm still looking for the front pair of birdseye maple finishers to complete the conversion on my car.
The LHD drivers front birdseye maple finishers do not seem to be available new anymore though. This is part 1 in the diagram below that shows the front finishers.
Front LHD LH (Driver) GNA1385LA, GNA1385HA Power fold mirrors
But the front LHD passenger side is still available, so I may track that down if I can't find a used one. This is part 2 in the diagram showing the front finishers.
Front LHD RH (Passenger) GNA1384BA
Finding a set was the hard part, and again I'm still looking for the front door pair, but installation takes only about five minutes per side.
You just pop off the screw cover, unscrew one phillips head screw, lift and slide the cover toward the back of the door so that the clip disengages at the head of the finisher, then reverse the process.
