Need guidance. I fried my alternator after driving through large rainwater pond in the middle of the road. I got a new alternator, but this pesky battery symbol keeps showing red. Multimeter and voltagemeter in dashboard tells that charging voltage is in acceptable level. What could cause this? Help.
One thing we have seen over and over is that replacement alternators cause problems. It has been recommended that to avoid all these weird problems is to rebuild your old factory original alternator. Jaguars for some reason are real picky on the electrical side!!

It's going to be this. Seen this too many times when replacement alternator had warning light issues despite working perfectly fine. What the current replacement alternator puts out in voltage and current is basically outside of what Jag light logic allows, hence your light is now on.
And there is no other way to go around the issue? Replacing the new regulator with the old one (if not blown) cannot be done? I'd rather yank the warning light bulb off. Enough info is gain off the voltagemeter anyhow.

do you have ground or battery voltage at the dummy light wire? one of the two options will shut the light off guaranteed.
