Coolant leak.

So, i have a coolant leak, it is noticeable atm.
every couple days my fluid level light comes on and i must top it up.
given where it is leaking from i assume it is either the lower radiator hose or the water pump.
i don’t see coolant dripping on the ground but i can see it collecting on the front edge (corner) of my engine where the sump bolts up directly below the water pump. Collecting along with oil from my seal leak
i hope it is just the hose.
my plan is to take the hose off, clean up the fittings and reattach maybe with the use of some gasket sealant just to secure it good.
so what to look for while there to see of the water pump is leaking? Or just replace the hose, hope for the best and then see if it stops.

Typically, the water pump has a weep hole by the front nose bearing on the boteem side
This indicates the fluid seal to the water pump bearing is leaking and the bearing will Fail soon if not already
You can take a long socket extension and listen for the bearing
Be careful of your hair getting into the pulley

welp...
scratch that.,...
leak is worse than i thought...
it appears to be coming from the water rail near the back of the block....
run the car and i can see it running down the side of the block near the back...
guess i will be taking the inlet manifold off on the weekend.
How many gaskets are needed? just 1?
part number EAC9745 correct?
EAC9745 Water Rail Gasket
i also see reference saying this is the correct part EAC9634
EAC9634 Water Rail Gasket
what else will i need?
possibly some sealant and hopefully that is it?
is there a gasket on the inlet manifold?

just found someone saying this is what is required.
i do not need the EGR stuff as there is no EGR system on AU spec.
does this seem correct?
2 water rail gaskets EAC 9745
1 Water rail hose NBC 2273AB
6 Injector o-ring(2 O-RING PACKAGE)12 total EBC 9492
1 Intake manifold gasket EBC 11081
1 EGR gasket NBC 4774AB (superceded by C2A1231)
1 gasket EGR related EBC 10827
1 gasket EGR related NBC 4772AA

I've renewed the water rail gaskets 3 times on 2 different X300's....or is it 4 on 3? I forget. Never removed fuel injectors on any of them. Yes, definitely replace the b*st*rd hose while you are there. You will need the intake manifold gasket. also as CfcPete says, 2 water rail gaskets.
The water rail gaskets are fairly exquisite and fragile parts. The reason I've done more changes than cars is not because (thus far) one of my renewals has accumulated enough time and /or miles to fail....rather I boned up the installation and had a leak immediately on the post-maintenance leak check!. I cut two new gaskets out of a sheet of cork gasket material I had on-hand and all has been well, since. You may want to consider that if you have trouble sourcing the parts or find cost/shipping to be unreasonable. This is an easy task once you remove the water rail and can use it as a template.
This will alleviate the dilemma you'll face once you have the OEM paper gaskets in-hand and begin to wonder, "Does the green gel-portion go against the block? or against the water rail?"

There are 2 coolant lines on the area of the throttle butterfly to keep it warm , one attached fwd and one attached aft under the butterfly
the rail gaskets can be found here

So it seems that local suppliers are oos of some of the gaskets.
So i am looking for recommendations for international suppliers.
i see these guys have app the parts.
https://www.britishparts.co.uk/class...c51/hose-p2266
not sure how they stack up on speed and pricing tho.
gace not looked too much yet.

British parts are very good for delivery, and not bad quality wise. I have had a couple of dodgy remanufactured bushes, and am currently recovering from the trauma of a faulty wheel speed sensor they sent for my Range Rover, but I am happy to continue using them, as they are mostly very good.

Intake gasket might be ok to reuse, also its easy to swap it later as you don't really have to take the whole thing out, just pull it out enough to slid the gasket in so I wouldn't wait for it. Definitely replace ba$terd hose, that's basically a satans abomination created to torture all Jaguar owners. Also, I'd pray for a few days before the work in hope that water rail bolts come out in one piece, otherwise its an absolute pain to remove them later. They also usually break on cars with a small leak for a while there. Good luck!
