Where is the crank position sensor on a 96-97 XJ6 (X300)

I just changed the crank position sensor and i have a question.. the cable end of the sensor with the electric connector is attached to a plate with 2 bolts. When I removed this plate some oil dripped out... What is this "hole" behind the plate? 😶

The end of the auxillary jackshaft.

I use a good smear of Hi-Temp RTV on that plate, and refitted it.

There is NO seal in there, but a gasket for that plate NBB2119AA I think???

#6 is the plate in question.

Just changed mine, and the sensor was retained with a bolt that had a 8mm hex head. Might have been a 6mm shaft, but the fastener head was of more immediate importance to me at the time.

Detaching the connector was lightly counterintuitive-- the sensor side is stationary, clipped to a retaining bracket, and the harness side is loose. Yanking on the sensor side of the connector doesn't help you none.
