Custom Air Intake System with Oil Catch Tank Setup
Although not fully completed, here is my rather "unique" custom air intake with integrated oil catch can / tank setup.
The tank is just a ebay universal one with filter which is actually capped off as I am currently unsure about enough vacuum being generated on the intake side to exhaust the gasses, and also I don't want the noxious fumes entering the car.
I have replaced the existing pipe from the cam cover with an aluminum pipe (for looks), and then routed via another ally pipe to the intake before the MAF as to not cause vacuum leaks and disrupt the air flow as I have also replaced the naff plastic bend with resonator with a stainless 90 degree pipe.
I had to extend the wiring for the MAF and air temp sensor as they are now further away from the throttle body.
Must admit, certianly looks good, we will see when I've finished rebuilding everything else if it run better - will certainly sound like a banshee on steroids without the resonator that is for sure!

Cut the pipe just after the bend that comes out towards the intake, and there is a pod carbon air filter on the end end flex pipe.
The filter will remain, however the flexi pipe will be changed to a stainless bend which I'll drill and attach the other end of the oil catch pipework onto, currently its just siliconed into the flexi pipe.

Two questions, on the factory set up there is a small vacuum hose "T"ed into the bigger cam cover (CC) hose. Do you know what its for & did you figure this small vac hose into your custom setup , my thought's are it helps sucks the "fumes"over to the EGR, is it necessary? I don't know. Also do you think this is enough breathing/venting capacity for this size engine even using the stock setup, it uses just the 1/2" hole in the cam cover, basically the other hole is just an exit for the CC hole, just a thought.
