Default Daimler Six '97 cruise control problem

Hello,
I am new here.
In 2000 I bought my first Jaguar, a '96 XJ Sovereign LWB.
Now since 2013 a Daimler Six LWB.
I live in Belgium, hope to drive this Daimler for a long time to come.
Don't know exactly how ik works here, hope I find answers on my cruise control problem.
About the Daimler cruise problem:

The cruise control works perfectly, at least as long as I don't push the accelerator while driving in "cruise".
Example: driving at 80 km/h, give some extra throttle to overtake a car.
Then I get one or more slight jolts in the accelerator, and sometimes some extra resistance in the pedal.
Accelerating then becomes a bit difficult.
When I let go of the pedal, the speed should drop to 80 km/hour, but it doesn't. It keeps slowing down to under 80.
If I then "resume" the cruise switch, it does go back to 80, but of course, that's not how it should be.
What could be the cause of this?
