Dimming Outside Mirror Glass Retrofit
I'm in need of a replacement Driver's Outside Mirror glass as mine has formed a crack down the middle. Looking for part numbers of Jaguar Classic Parts, I saw the option "Electrochromatic" and seeing that it would fit perfectly in the place of my standard Heated glass, I found one and bought it.
My only barrier is whether or not my existing Inside Electrochromatic mirror has the Tint Output for the side mirrors. If not, I'll swap in a mirror from an XK8 that does and run the wire. If I'm really lucky, I'll be able to find the Passenger Side Electrochromatic Glass as well and retrofit that side too. Apparently they were available on 1997 and up XK's.
My 1998 Oldsmobile Regency had this option (Inside and driver's mirror only) as standard from the factory and I can't tell you how much I've missed it. It really does make night driving more pleasurable by reducing glare, especially as more and more people retrofit incorrect bulbs to their stock headlamp housings...
I'll post some pictures once I get all my parts in!
