...definitely on my short list of "not urgent or required" upgrades to tinker with at some point.

But as I understand it from various discussions the key will be managing the increased intake heat from the higher SC output as many have found power drop off after an initial benefit.

So I'll be looking at the increased throughput Bosch SC intercooler pump, a pusher fan for the stock intercooler, and a secondary intercooler installed in the lower grill.

.

Default 2003 S-Type 3.0L NA V6...similar bracket available?

Hey XJREngineer, was wondering if you have a similar bracket that works on the NA 3.0L V6 found in my 2003 S-Type?

It looks like he left Jaguar before that engine was introduced to the S-Type. Someone more familiar with Ford Duratec V6s might be able to help though.

Too bad. Seems like such a great idea. I'm always looking for ways to squeeze a few extra mph out of my car.

I've skimmed through the thread and so far I've gathered that there is a bigger bracket that everyone seems to be buying and finding legitimate performance gains from, and one or two people who DIY'ed a cold air intake.

I've got a few of these cars (all stock at the moment) and I'm trying to find a list of things to do for my 89' XJ6 - Currently the car has zero issues and averages 22mpg city / 29 hwy with the use of Archoil industrial-grade oil & fuel modifiers but I think it can do better.

Is it worth the effort to make an intake pipe and buy a filter? and is this bracket compatible with this model?

thechief1967,
have you read some of the 386 posts that precede yours?
There is much satisfaction with Andy's bracket, the main one being improved throttle response, and a wee bit more economy.
I haven't read any negative comments

thechief1967,
This thread is full of praise for Andy and his bracket. I have it in my 1993 XJS 4.0L AJ6. Seat of the pants pep improved, I believe I'm getting 1/2 to 1 mile per gallon improvement, and the car holds its speed up hills better. It's the best bang for the buck of all the mods I've done to this car.
If you are curious, other notable mods I recommend are:
- replaced steering rack with a tighter radius unit
- upgraded the front sway bar and added a rear bar
- upsized the rims (just one size makes a big diff) found some nice used ones at a fair price
- removed the two exhaust silencers and got another 15HP (feels like). The car is noticeably louder tho. Replace the stock mufflers with a performance muffler (e.g. flowmaster) to reduce the sound and maintain the flow.
- I am constantly on the lookout for an intake improvement (not a hack) that I can install. That will be the last mod i make (honest)

Hi Andy, Do you still have any of these brackets made up? If so I would like to try one on my XJR. Regards, Tony.

Hi Andy - as you are online, quick question: I have received the pictures and infos from Helen. Thx so far!

My XJR is in daily use and I also drive her on the autobahn in germany with regular speed over 180-200km/h. Would you also recommend your brackets to such a use? Eventually in combination with 98 octane fuel?

Thx,
bernd

The email address is missing an "n" for "helen". Typo on Andy's part. Try that, it will work.

Everyone,
Sorry about mistyping the contact email address.

It should be helenstodart@gmail.com

earny,
You can fit my bracket and still drive it at whatever speed you like. It will probably perform even better on 98RON fuel.

The next batch of brackets will be finished on 15th December, taking total production to 480.

Default Revised crankshaft sensor bracket.

My new crankshaft sensor bracket arrived a few weeks ago, I've been kinda busy at work lately and have only just got round to fitting it, so I jump in the car to see how it goes with the new bracket fitted, but forgetting I haven't used it for about ten weeks the poor old girl won't start, the battery is stone dead, my fault for neglecting her, I think I've killed the battery as it won't now take a charge, so a report on new bracket will have to wait until I get a new battery. Happy Xmas everyone.

I'm looking forward to driving my latest XJR6 manual 5 speed which has the bracket already fitted along with cold air intake mods and a bigger crankshaft supercharger pulley.....but it cant be a comparative review as i wont be pulling the bracket and mods off to find out what the difference is from stock....i kind of remember what my stock XJR6 auto's felt like being as they were only a few years back but still it wont be a fair criticism...I'm just happy that I'm going to be back in the seat of an XJR6

Default Revised crankshaft sensor bracket.

Well I finally persuaded my battery it would be a good idea to accept a charge and took the x300 out for its test drive with the new crank sensor bracket fitted. The first word to spring to mind is responsive, that was really noticeable the engine is much more responsive, it also seemed smoother and overall a little more willing, I also have a gut feeling mpg may be better but only time will tell, this was the first time I've used the car for weeks so its not perfect conditions for a comparison, but a definite improvement and it was nice to get behind the wheel of the jag again, its easy to forget what great cars they are.
