Hello there !
I just ordered and mounted Andy's bracket on my car. It is true, real fuel ecnomy : my car does not start anymore
I certainly do NOT hold the new bracket accountable for this issue (the car started with the new bracket and died 3 kilometer away.
Just posted here because may be some of you did experiment my problem ?
I created a post here : https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...nymore-248186/ : you're welcome to contribute

Hi Carmelo,
I am really sorry that you have had problems with your car, since fitting one of my revised crank sensor brackets. As discussed by private email, it is possible that disturbing the crank sensor itself, in order to fit the revised bracket, has precipitated a failure of the sensor. If the sensor is original, then it is now at least 28 years old, as your car is a pre 93MY XJ40. These sensors are known to fail, even without being disturbed to fit a revised bracket. I have also tired to answer your question regarding the possibility of fitting an alternative sensor part number, if you chose to replace the sensor. Alternatively, you could fit the original bracket, and check whether the problem now persists, which would confirm that the problem was the sensor, not the bracket. If you ultimately decide that you do not wish to continue with the revised bracket, then you can return it for a full refund.

I very much hope that you are able to resolve your current difficulties, and are able to enjoy the benefits of my revised bracket design.

Regards,
Andy Stodart

Hi Andy

Like I said, I'm sure your bracket is not the cause of my problem.
And indeed, as I explained in the subject I've linked in my previous message, I found with the help of the forum the guilty part : it was the rotor inside distributor !
It has choosen to broke 3km after the installation of your bracket !
I receive the new one tomorrow, and I'll try right away your bracket

It's good to see that there are still owners of AJ16 and AJ6 powered Jaguars reading this thread for the first time.

For the first time and not even owner of a '96 XJR yet. But this could be the case very soon, as I threw an eye on a sapphire blue beauty here in Switzerland, where I live. So a quick hello to everbody on this wonderful forum from a newby. Just wondering, Andy, do you still produce your bracket or do you have anymore available? As I'm preparing the purchase of this wonderful car and intend to visit friends in England as soon as possible, I'd like to ask about availability.

Yes DangerPete, I still sell my revised design of crank senor bracket. One design is for late 3.6L and early 3.2L / 4.0L AJ6 engines. The other design is for late 3.2L / 4.0L AJ6 and all AJ16 engines. I think the the early / late changeover points seems to be 93MY, so I ask owners to provide engine number and VIN to confirm which design they require.

Just to add my 2p to the thread as a new first-time owner of an X300 XJR6 Supercharged. I've already purchased one of Andy's brackets but will be driving the car for a bit without it, before fitting so I can make an informed comparison. Will report back.

Oh, and I did the same with Andy's drop-links. Just waiting for the rear anti-roll bar to turn up, which is taking forever from Ultra Racing Shop.

Well done Carmelo and thanks for the videos. You have the patience of a Saint. People who don't believe in coincidence should buy a jaguar.

Hi Andy, is this email now to be used instead of contacting your wife when ordering?

People are still welcome to contact Helen, who will reply to enquiries. However, some people have been contacting my old email addresss stated on the first page of the thread. This is no longer reliable.

Hi there, can I ask if this also fits the 4.0 AJ6 in the XJS? If so, very interested in fitting one

Thanks, from another ex-Jag engineer!
