The US Dollar is at a 35 year high against Sterling, so now is the ideal time for any US Jaguar owners considering one of my revised design of crank sensor brackets, as they are made in the UK.

Dear All,
I have just made another batch of my revised cranks sensor brackets for late AJ6 and all AJ16 engines. I've been making these brackets now for about 15 years. I think that most Jaguar owners who have heard about my brackets, have bought one by now, if they wanted one. This latest batch may therefore be the last. If anyone has been contemplating fitting one of these brackets, then I would encourage you to get in touch.

Dear Andy,
I finally did install your bracket after the winter break. I am more than thrilled about the result as most of your customers are. The XJR feels quicker, sharper, more aggressive, from idle to higher revs - very nice and a pleasure to drive. Best of all: After 1'000 miles on French motorways and twisty B-roads down to the south, not driving slowly, fuel economy is better than ever (from 13.5 Litres/100km down to 12.7, which is 22.2 mpg instead of 21 mpg).
Thank you very much for this bracket! I enjoy

Thank yo very much for the positive feedback. I hope that it will inspire other owners to take advantage of the increased performance and fuel economy that you have experienced.

Dear Andy,
The owner of my car repair workshop has restored a XJ40 3.6 Litre and is asking me, if there is also a bracket for this model/motor? Which informations do you need to check the possibilities? Thanks for your help and information.
Greetings, Peter

I've just taken delivery of the latest batch of brackets. I had to use a different machinist, as my usual guy was sick. I have to say that the machining on this batch is even better than usual.

@XJRengineer

Have you considered selling the 7 degree timing bracket? Where I live the 100 octane fuel is only 4 cents more expensive than the 95.

I'm sorry but I don't offer a bracket that is advanced by 7deg, only one that is advanced by 5deg. 100RON fuel is not common in many markets. It is not necessary to use fuel of higher octane than 95RON (approx 90 pump octane / anti-knock index) with my 5deg advanced bracket. I can reprogramme the engine ECU for anyone wanting a more advanced ignition map.

My revised crank sensor brackets continue to offer the most cost-effective way to improve both performance and fuel economy of any Jaguar fitted with an AJ16 or late AJ6 engine. If anyone has any questions about this modification, then please get in touch (andystodart4@gmail.com)

Dear All,
I have 9 brackets left from the current batch that I had manufactured in Auguat 2023. Demand for these brackets has declined over the last few years, as most people who wanted one have now got one, and the number of AJ6 and AJ16 engined Jaguars still on the roads continues to decline. This batch may therefore be the last batch that I make. If not, I will be making any future brackets in smaller quantities, which will inevitably increase the price. If you have been thinking of getting one, then I suggest you don't put it off any longer !

With your device and a new sensor I get a pending error. Is that something you have seen

The pending error may have something to do with the the difference from the original and always present mechanical TDC mark on the crankshaft pully ( not missing tooth ) and the 5 o'clock located index position on the engine block

The biased Andy Bracket will now be 5 degrees different when the missing tooth comes around to the CKPS and now not at the same time the 5 o'clock index mark

Your Camshaft position sensor should not need adjustment as it will read original TDC from the cams

The CMPS will be used first in startup and at some point switch over to the CKPS

Your codes could be more of a nuisance from the reader device and not a real functional issue but then you had some misfire issues recently that may only have been codes

Hi Phil,

What is the pending code?

One thing worth checking is the electrical connector for the crank sensor. The pins have been known to back out of the connector, leading to an intermittent connection or no connection. Detach your connector and confirm that all pins are present and of the same length.

Also, is there any chance that any grime or road grit got trapped between the bracket and the timing cover, or between the sensor and bracket? Any misalignment could cause problems.

Cheers,

Don

The code is B30f4 P13B0. It is a new sensor and a relatively new bracket, but I will check to make sure. I have hardly driven the car since I put them on but it is worth checking
