Do I need a new Hub
So I started a journey I wasn't expecting on my X300.
Front wheel bearings.
I was not expecting this to take 6 hours.
Spent the first hour getting the wheels off that I have not removed in my ownership.
And spend another hour to remove the calipers.
Then the last 4 beating in and out bearing races.
The problem is pic related is my hub now.
Is there some trick to getting the inner race out? Is this hub still usable and how in gods name do you get these races in and out.
My TR7 was nowhere near the battle of this on its wheel bearings Ill admit.

The normal technique would be to drive them out from the opposite side using a punch or a screwdriver to catch on the little bit of the bearing race which is exposed by the indent on the hub casting. I’m pretty sure you know this already, and the problem might be that the race is worn so thin there is no longer a lip to drive out.
In that case I would use a dremel to cut a slot in the race to relieve the pressure and allow it to be prised out. I would normally cut diagonally across the race as it is easier, trying to minimise damage to the hub surface. A little damage is inevitable and inconsequential, as the new race will cover it.

Hi Okami,
Sorry for the late reply. You can see photos of the various steps in the bearing replacement process at these links. The photos were taken of our '93 XJ40, but the front bearing parts are all the same. For some reason, when the Jag-Lovers forum finally got the photo albums transferred to its new servers, the photos display full-size, so you may need to hold the Ctrl or Cmd key and hit the minus/hyphen ( - ) key a few times to reduce their display size, but if you go too small, you won't be able to read the captions:
Front Wheel Bearings - Part 1 of 4
Front Wheel Bearings - Part 2 of 4
Front Wheel Bearings - Part 3 of 4
Front Wheel Bearings - Part 4 of 4
Cheers,
Don
