The speaker is in the steering column I think, but that's not your issue.
The BPM provides the alarm to the speaker. I have no idea really why it would do that while driving. There's obviously some input it's receiving that it shouldn't (or some input missing that it should have) - so a faulty cable connection or a short to ground somewhere? Or it could be an internal fault in the module.
You will need to test with a multimeter at the BPM to try and work out what's going on. As the fault is intermittent that's going to be tricky. I've attached a spreadsheet I did some time ago that shows all of the BPM pins and functions so that may help in your investigation.
You might want to start with Pins FC2-31 and FC2-48 which are both inputs to the BPM from the ignition switch.
