Hi, I can only go off UK prices. it seems to be in the right range although a bit high for me. 2500 usd to 3200 usd would nearer the mark for me, but I don't know about your local prices.

Any car that is running hot, could easily be a serious problem and then again it might not be.

Difficult to help you without more information/symptoms.

But if you are considering this car then you should have this professionally checked before you buy and adjust your price or walk away, depending on what you find.

Don't buy it just because you like the colour, or that you think you have fallen in love with it. In your price range there are hundreds of examples out there.

Heck I saw an XJR on the UK autotrader site yesterday for 2200USD (OK so it has an electrical problem, but I am tempted)

buy it. drive it. love it.

on second thought, don't be impulsive.
have it checked out, for sure, definitely, for sure.

running hot is no joke on these cars. and a head gasket job sucks.

I don't know where you're located but there will always be another car that comes along without any problems. I looked at several with low mileage and they hadn't been taken care of so I walked away. Finally got a decent one and have been happy ever since.

4 bills is a lot for an XJ6, especially one with a potential BIG problem.

get a prepurchase inspection...if the buyer refuses, you know he has a major problem and is trying to hide it

Whoops. At 10k NZ it looks as if I may have paid a bit much for a 95. But it is in fine condition and I love it.

Hi Albert

Your post is not clear on the engine temperature. Are you saying it is overheating, or the temperature gauge is not working ? Have you seen the car "in the flesh" - never buy unseen, EVER !!

For the mileage of 53K miles, well below average for a car 15 years old, I would say the price converted to sterling is not too bad at £2550, but this assumes the car has no serious faults. If it is overheating that is serious as until the cause is established you don't know what it is going to cost to fix.
I would say get the car checked out and also insist on a reasonably long test drive of about 10 miles. You also need to see evidence of servicing and so on, and some proof of the mileage. Having said all that these cars were better than the XJ8s that came after them, being more reliable with their 6-cylinder AJ16 engine.
