Door or carpet sill removal?

This same question came up in the XK8 section yesterday in a thread about removing seats and carpet. I knew about the seats but had never had to remove a Tread Plate on my previous XJ40, X300, X308 or XK8.
The stainless section is the Tread Plate and the insert with 'Jaguar' is the Tread Plate Insert (can't fault Jaguar Parts Department logic there for a change).
The following is courtesy of member WhiteXKR:
The Tread Plate Insert is fastened with very strong double sided tape. Heat it generously with an electric heat gun while gently lifting it up. You need to be very careful not to bend it or it must be replaced. I start at one end with a knife and then pull it along and up with 22 ga. solid copper wire so as not to scratch anything. Once it is up you will have access to the screws. If you keep it clean it should be sticky enough to reuse without additional adhesive.
With the Insert removed. you'll see the fixing screws for the Tread Plate.
Good luck.
