Door panel retainers

If you find out how to put them in the door then let me know. My door was so bad that if you shut it too hard you had to go in the passenger side. I ended up putting a type of glue that peels off so I can put the clips on whenever I get the chance.

its not hard to put the new ones in, just kinda a pain cause you have to take off the door panel. you know how to do that?

I've taken the door panel off before to do the speakers in all the doors before and a couple times after that. I bought the clips but they might've been the wrong ones. When I took the door panel off it looked like you had to take the actual door panel itself apart too to slide them through.

Same problem
Having taken door cards off almost all cars I've owned the jab has little buttons on the card that the clips head then rotates and locks on. The tick is the have them properly rotated when you put the door card back on - i.e. the notch faces inwards not outwards.
also I notice looking on the forums is that when people pop their cards they pull out the female clip that are in the door. My driver door has only 2 of its 8 left. So there's nothing for the clips on the door card to fit into. i searched for ages for these and found out what they're called interior trim bushes and are on britishparts.co.uk PN:KZV100010.
they also sell the xj8 trim clips KTD300003 for the door card. these are not cheap (well not for clips) and looking at them they look an awful lot like the ones on land rovers which are a 5th of the price - they could be worth a punt on a couple as they may be more or less the same landy and jag shared stuff for years like that (MXC1800)

Door panel clip source and removal tip to avoid/reduce breakage
I just received replacement door clips for my 97 VDP from jagbits.com, their part #KZC100007, Door Male Clip, $1.49 each. They are OEM parts, and perfect replacements.
The Jagbits guys were very helpful, assisting me with identifying the exact parts I needed. I recently opened up the driver’s door and the center console (for clock repair), and broke a number of parts in both places. ;-(
The door work was to repair the door check arm attachment, as it broke free of the door as described elsewhere in the forum. I bought the reinforcing plate from the ebay vendor and will install it soon.
Perhaps I can help someone else here:
The door clips broke because I didn’t fully understand how to use the plastic door trim pry bar. I just inserted it between the door and panel in various random places, and levered until the panel came loose (after doing all the other things first, removing handle, cover, screws, wood, etc as explained in the forum). I broke all nine clips!
What I DIDN’T know was that you’re apparently supposed to place the V-notch in the end of the pry bar DIRECTLY AROUND each clip, one at a time, allowing the force to be applied to the clip itself, rather than the door panel. Looks like this would require getting your head down on the ground so that you can look up between the door panel and the door, so you can see where each clip is, I assume by gently prying first in order to see where each clip is. I’ll know better next time.
Regarding how the clips attach to the door panel: They hook onto a heavy wire frame embedded in the edge of the door panel, but exposed at the places where the clips go. What breaks is the thin part of the clip that hooks around this heavy wire frame.

The timing on this discussion is perfect! All my door speakers are blown in my 97 Vanden Plas and when I pulled off the passenger door panel to check on the size of the speaker, many of the panel retainer clips broke off at their base.
I was searching the internet for the clips when I decided to search the forum.
The posting of P/N KZC100007 was a big time saver. I've purchased 50 from "Motorcars LTD" for $.43 each. (Still too expensive, but the best price I could find posted in the states.
