Default Door window motors slow

Ok this has probably been done “to death” by now but here we are again…

My X300 windows go slowish down and slower up to the point passenger side nearly didn’t make it (sad as it’s 25yrs old car and it’s like my 98yr old grandma going up the stairs &#129396

so solutions I’ve heard are… silicon (does that work?) door card off and lube (not yourself of course) or motor tired so only fix is replace window motor ?

id rather attempt a simple low cost fix if possible so please don’t advise to buy a “new car”
cheers to the best real answers

silicon (does that work?)
Yes. Amazing what difference it can make. Definitely recommended as Step 1.

door card off and lube
Yes as Step 2. Use Silcone in the channels and white grease on the mechanism.

Step 3 is pull the motor. I've found the cog bit can get gummed up. If you have a 12v supply, spray the Cog with WD40 or similar and work it back and forward by reversing the connections. Repeat until it runs freely.

(Assuming your battery is fully charged or you are testing with engine running)

Step 4 Get a replacement motor/mechanism. I think Front Left and Rear Right (motor) are same, and Front Right and Rear Left (motor) are the same. But I stand to be corrected on that. Fairly cheap as used parts.

What I found on mine was the door control panel connector lock had come loose and the pins had migrated away from making good contact

While you have the door panel off a sure test of the motor and mechanism is with a battery charger on the 2 power wires to the motor

You can't miss the 2 heavy wires to the motor

The motor has built in resistance so no harm , it will be a high current so arcing hazard , simply switch charger leads to run the window one direction or the other
