Driver seat won't go aft
Hi Everyone, My 95 XJ6 VP driver seat won't go aft, only forward with all the other functions working as well as memory. Can someone direct me to a troubleshooting guide for this malfunction. I have seen a tech article on the potentiometers but I don't know if this where I should start.

With the suspect motor only going one way that would point to the polarity switching relay inside the module as I believe the potentiometers are used in the memory function and maybe as a electrical stop vs. a hard mechanical stop . Might be able to drive the suspect motor with a fresh 9 volt battery ( ? ) or a battery charger . SM1 - 7D ( Purple / Orange wire ) to SM1 - 8D ( Purple / Slate wire ) for the module connector . Pins marked in purple on pic below :
Can you look under the seat and see if you have a set of relays facing you or a modual that may be able to swap as there are different versions of seats with different wiring
For the 95 X300 the wiring guide can be found here figure 14.1 :

I have the same trouble with my Daimler.
The two solutions for my car are:-
1. Slide the seat the whole way forward then repeatedly try to slide it back until it finally does (risky, if it gets stuck you can’t get in unless 4’2”)
2. Push the button inwards against the seat as hard as you can while also sliding the button back. This works if you hold your mouth right and channel the inner Fonz...
Once sorted don’t let someone shorter drive your Jag!

My name is aholbro1 and I'm a seat-don't-go-aft addict as well.....
In my case, the driver's seat module is unresponsive to WDS. Otherwise, exactly as described above - full range of motion with everything working in all directions with the exception of aft-traverse - though as AL NZ notes, that function is intermittent. For now, a useful fault as my youngest daughter is still undergoing driver training, is short, so is handy reason we can't do any training in my car...."I'd never be able to drive it after you adjust the seat..."
I did grab a passenger seat module on my last pick-n-pull visit. Hopefully the same, but haven't done the research, as yet to confirm or deny. Driver's seat module was either gone or inaccessible, don't remember which.
I did pull the fuses prior to my most recent state inspection so as to preclude the possibility of an inspector rendering the car unusable - RH heelboard if you need to do likewise, sorry, don't recall the fuse $ offhand.
