Default exhaust manifold

Does anyone know if the XJ6 exhaust manifolds are the same as the XJR-6? I'm not sure if the exhaust manifold openings are larger due to the supercharged engine? I found a pair for sale locally. My car was suffering a power-loss and It just couldn't idle properly and I smelled fumes coming from underneath the vehicle when I jacked her up and my conclusion was the exhaust manifolds when i removed the heat shield. (both cracked)

Same manifolds, XJR vs. normally aspirated.

The only variations are without/without air injection and with/without EGR valve.

Cheers

Thank you. Is this a common problem on these models? This is my first time seeing a cracked manifold right from the center.

As Doug said, very common problem.

Ask the seller to give you the part numbers that are stamped on the manifolds.

For the rear you need NBC2903AA which I believe superseded to NBC2903AD

If the part is NBC2903CB it will not work as it can't accept the EGR pipe. (I think XJR's did not have EGR, at least early in the production run)

Is it possible to weld them or will they crack again after a while? It seems like majority of the used pairs are cracked & brand new cost $300+ each and I don't think its worth paying that much at the very moment.

You can try using "Inferno" you can find it at Autozone. Inferno helps seal cracks like the ones in the manifolds.. It might not be a permanent fix but it will do the job temporally.

Hi A specialist welder can do I think they call it stitch welding which I had done to mine about 8 months a go and they are still okay. When they crack again I will get a set of free flow headers made up it is expensive but should solve the problem.

Jaguar classics owners are luckier as there are specialist shops in the UK that manufacture exhaust manifolds for their marques. Here is a link.
http://www.classicfabs.co.uk/
X300 may be too small a market to motivate business for aftermarket products, or we may have to wait till ours attain classic status.... The new breed of Jaguar is a whole lot different so some day later people might rediscover the beauty of the VDPs and start rebuilding and re-manufacturing parts to keep them on the road.

I make performance replacement headers for these cars from 304 stainless steel direct fit but not cheap
When you have repaired them a few times the price seems reasonable (LOL)
