Front bumper undertray questions
Hi all.
I've just installed a front bumper undertray on my XJR as it came without one. I was just wondering where the highlighted part attaches to. It kind of just dangles there, hanging down slightly. I am assuming it doesn't attach to anything?
Also, my car had this aluminium bar bolted to the lower radiator mount (see below) just hanging there kind of loosely. I'm guessing this bar goes across the part in question, somewhat clamping it up and in place. However, it looks like this part might have been added by a previous owner, it certainly doesn't look factory fit.
How have other people resolved this? Cable tie it to the sway bar? Let it just hang loose?

Mine was attached on a little wire but it didn't really help it much as I ripped my second tray to pieces couple months ago on some grass. I'll get to fitting a new one in the summer and either cut that bit entirely or think of something to attach it a bit higher. The rubber band in the middle is also a rubbish design and I can recommend removing it entirely. This is of course if you're planning driving it anywhere else than city, if its just the latter then you should be fine, except for catching some kerbs with that useless rubber strip.

I'm picking at some point someone has installed that aluminium bar on mine to keep it up out of the way. I might just tidy that up and reinstall it and hope it is good enough.
I must say that it is strange that the unsertray has those little wings with nothing to attach to. I almost wonder whether there was originally meant to be an engine undertray for it to connect to that they ditched at the last minute.

I've replaced my Undertray a couple of times and that centre section you have indicated was originally just tied up to a cross member with a cable tie. I've always reattached it the same way. Id like to offer that you have to be careful with the undertray, that part of the tray especially as it can kinda act like a fish hook on a high gutter/curb, that is you drive over one parking without any problem but make a bloody mess of the undertray as it catches as you back out. As I have to order mine from the UK it becomes an expensive mistake worth avoiding.

fyi i have seen JagDaim in Melbourne have these available.
not sure how JagDaim compares to pricing v buying from the UK but have seen they do have them.
also just curious as to how you go finding spare parts and stuff available here? from my short experience it seems quite hard compared to the seemingly easy task of sourcing parts from the UK.

I have sourced a couple of replacement Undertrays from SNG Barratt UK, From memory, the price of the trays was actually very reasonable however the postage as would be expected, was way over the top, So much so that the last time I ordered one I purchased 2 and had them shipped together for the same shipping cost. I've found over the years that even with postage you can often pick up second-hand parts from the UK for a fraction of what we are paying here. I also find this is sometimes true for new parts from SNG Barratt. "https://www.autoreservejaguar.com" is one name that comes to mind, Where I have sourced and purchased some replacement second-hand front seat squabs amount other things. I also keep an eye on eBay.UK. or eBay.AU where JagDaim also list items

I have been using a cable tie or three for a few years. It secures pretty well to the crossbeam bar above,
I have found that closing the cable tie above the undertray helps as it it less likely to catch on anything.
Without really noticing I managed to break a few off already, could be that occasional grounding out on speed bumps is enough.
