Front & rear bumper, mirrormcap and trunk chrome bar removal?
Hi,
For a little project I want to remove the front and rear bumpers, the mirror caps and the rear chrome stripe/bar over the trunk lid with the trunkmrelease switch in it...
Does anyone have some instructions on how to do this?
Cheers
Damien

Hi Damien,
Assuming you're inquiring about your '95 XJ6 Sport, I believe the X300 Workshop Manual will contain most of the information you need. The manual can be downloaded at the link below:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/fz...300_Manual.rar
The Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC) is also helpful for visualizing the parts involved. You can download it from the thread below and install it on your computer:

You can also view parts diagrams at jaguarclassicparts.com, the parts service of the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust.
I'm not sure if the manuals will show how to remove the mirror caps - they may just be pressed on, or may also be fixed with glue. Hopefully another member will know. Here's the parts diagram from jaguarclassicparts.com:
Cheers,
Don

There are a load of posts on here, including a few from me, regarding removal of the bumpers and the inherent issues. A search of "Bumper removal" will throw lots up.
The rear trim on the boot lid is accessed by removing the inner boot lid liner and looking down/up into the cavity in the boot lid, you will see a row of "star washers" or whatever they're called. Similar to nuts, they twist off the plastic lugs that they are "screwed" onto. But they tend to rust and corrode due to water ingress and they can shear the plastic lugs off, so be careful.
The mirror caps (item 12 in the diagram?) are removed by setting the mirror to point inwards as much as possible, so that the outer edge is as far away from the casing as is possible.
The glass then snaps out with a slight outward twisting motion. Disconnect any wires and you will see how the mirror cap is held in place via three lugs that pass through into collet type holders. Just press the lugs backwards, maybe using something like a screwdriver handle and the cap pops off.
Attached pics may explain better.
