Smile Fuel injectors

I am thinking it would be good idea to remove the fuel injectors in my 95 XJ6 and send them out to be professionally cleaned. And, I need as much advice as anyone would care to give me in doing the job of removal and reinstalling the injectors. This is one area of a car I have no experience in.

Looking froward to hearing from the experts.

Thanks

I pulled a rail, regulator and six injectors off a car being scrapped the other week. I'll probably have them cleaned up and then do a swap. I don't recall it being particularly difficult to get them off. Not compared to the exhaust manifold or rear shocks anyway...

You'll probably want to pull the fuel pump fuse while the car is running to de-pressurise the fuel system.

I was looking as to how they are installed. Getting the electrical harness off seems to be streight forward. But once that is done how do you get them out of the manifold? Are they screwed in or just pressed in? And I'm sure there is a way to really screw things up. So any detailed tips would be appreciated.

Most injectors I've seen with a solid mounted fuel rail are held in place with a rubber ring in the manifold and can be pulled out once the fuel rail is removed. Engines without solid mount fuel rails have a retainer that's screwed or bolted to hold the injectors in place.

They're simply pressed into the manifold. You just pull them out. Coat the rubber o-rings with vaseline when reinstalling to ease installation.

Thanks guys. I went on ebay and looked at a set to see what they looked like. It seems that once I get the fuel rail and electrical connectors off it is a piece of cake from there.

Thanks
